Memorial Park Land Bridge and Prairie Grand Opening Hike ~8.0 Miles
Details
With the exceptionally large RSVP count, parking may be a problem. There is really no alternative area for us at this point.
My suggestion is you get there early and walk to Starbucks for a light breakfast before the hike. It may be up to a half mile from the street parking to the meeting point. So leave some time. There is also some street parking on Briar Hollow Ln.
Every shopping center in the area has tow signs, park there at your own risk. If you can't find parking along the street, there are paid parking options.
Paid parking in the Arboretum's two lots. We will pass through the Arboretum on our way there and back. Meet us at the Woodway Entrance gate.
Fellow hiker Vanessa suggested 4400 Post Oak Parkway garage (not to be confused with PO Blvd. PO Place Dr, or PO Park Dr.) $5 for all day. 0.6 miles from the start.

My apologies in advance if you can't find parking to hike with us. This unexpected participation is welcomed but nearly double our previous high RSVP number. Your can still visit the park today by driving to Parking Lot H and taking the shuttle.

About HATs and our hikes
https://www.hatsandmore.org/
HATs organizers are not guides nor do we have any special training. We are here to come up with hiking ideas and get the hike started. Expect the same risks and take the same precautions you would if hiking alone, including the fitness level to make long hikes. Then enjoy the hike among friends.
Safety Precautions:
Hiking is supposed to be fun. If you don't feel well or can't keep up, tell someone right away and stop walking so it doesn't become something serious. Call the hike leader. We can help get you off the trail.
Call Tom at 832-439-5797 if you need help.
The Hike:
The land bridge in Memorial Park is nearing completion and the Conservancy has announced the grand opening. While their plan is for picnics and children's events, our plan is (unsurprisingly) for a hike to cross the two bridges and tour the park.
Parking inside the park is expected to be difficult. But as hikers, we can meet where it is convenient and walk there. If the weather is nice, expect to be part of a crowd in the park. This will likely be a slower pace than normal so we can admire the new bridges and make our way through the throng of other visitors.
Gathering Point:
Free street parking is available along Post Oak Park Dr south of Post Oak Blvd. Find a space and walk north to Starbucks at the corner of Post Oak Park and Post Oak Blvd.

The Trail:
We will be on sidewalks, improved trails and maybe some native material trails. Expect crowded trails in this urban park.
It will be difficult to keep a large group together. Some may want to stay in the park longer than the hike. Mark you parking place in your navigation app so you can easily find your way back to your car. Or use the gathering point to guide you back.
