Cypress Creek - Little Hike ~8.0 Miles

Details
About HATs and our hikes
https://www.hatsandmore.org/
HATs organizers are not guides nor do we have any special training. We are here to come up with hiking ideas and get the hike started. Expect the same risks and take the same precautions you would if hiking alone, including the fitness level to make long hikes. Then enjoy the hike among friends.
We hike about 3 MPH. This is faster than many walking groups.
Safety Precautions:
The heat index is now regularly above 100° F by 11PM. Consider your heat tolerance. Start the day well hydrated and bring at least a third more water than you carry in cooler weather. Consider bringing three liters if you are not experienced hiking in hot weather.
We often have suggestions on how to cut the hike short. Speak to the hike leader if you prefer a shorter and slower pace walk.
Hiking is supposed to be fun. If you don't feel well or can't keep up, tell someone right away. Stop walking so it doesn't become something serious. Call the hike leader. We can help get you off the trail.
What to You Need:
Supportive sports shoes, water, snacks and a hat.

The Hike:
We will follow the park roads and trails for a tour of this former residential subdivision abutting Cypress Creek. Then start down the horse trails along Cypress Creek to a break at the confluence of BIg and Little Cypress Creeks
Then follow Little Cypress as far as we can before we return. Along the way we will visit East Shadowlake Pocket Park and the large open space of Cypress Park.

The Trail:
Seven miles of unimproved horse trails in the native sandy soils of the region. The horse trails have very loose soils. One mile of paved park surfaces. Shaded except for a short stretch in Cypress Park.
