About HATs and our hikes
https://www.hatsandmore.org/
HATs organizers are not guides nor do we have any special training. We are here to come up with hiking ideas and get the hike started. Expect the same risks and take the same precautions you would if hiking alone, including the fitness level to make long hikes. Then enjoy the hike among friends.
Heat Precautions:
The heat index is now regularly above 100° F before noon. Consider your heat tolerance. Start the day well hydrated and bring at least a third more water than you carry in cooler weather.
Hiking is supposed to be fun. If you don't feel well and can't keep up, tell someone right away and stop walking so it doesn't become something serious. Call the hike leader. We can help.
Gathering Point:
Cullinan Park in Sugar Land has expanded the parking area so we can meet there. The hike starts at the observation tower.
12414 Hwy 6, Sugar Land, TX 77498

Bathrooms:
There are bathrooms at the gathering point. None along the trail.
The Hike:
The hike wind through many trails in the park. There is about a mile of open sunny trail that we will get done early. There may be some othe sunny stretches but we will keep mostly in the shade.
If you were with us two years ago, we lost a social trail, formerly used by bikes, that had not been restored after Harvey. A certain HATs hike leader has gone through that area to mark new blazes and reopened the trail.
The Trail:
Mostly native soil trails with some improved and paved sections. Partly sunny.
