The Hike:
We will follow a 4X4 road on foot that leads to the canyon. There is a rock slide blocking the road off an on for a quarter mile that will require squeezing through some tight spaces with sharp rocks. Once in the canyon, the road ends and further progress is made across the progressively more rugged canyon bottom.

The cave pictured above is a short way into the canyon. It is about 50 feet up and requires a steep but manageable climb to reach.

Hike Safety:
This hike is in a very remote area of Texas. Medical attention is more than an hour away. Ambulance service may not be available. We will have an iPhone satellite transponder but that is untested within the canyon. Response from Brewster County can take substantially more than hour. A rescue will take much longer.

The nearest hospital is in Alpine 1.5 hours away. Nearest medical center is in Odessa, three hours away.

Have the recommended protective gear on you.

Gaiters to protect pants from thorns.

Their is no trailhead. Parking will be along the narrow road. We must park in a way that doesn't block the road. This will require some extra walking distance.

The Trail:
This hike is mostly on a disused 4X4 road with loose gravel. It will be in full sun.
