San Jacinto Battleground Hike ~8.4 Miles
Details
The Hike:
This week takes us to the San Jacinto battleground to hike on the recently reopened Santa Ana Bayou Trail. Although a fairly short hike it is over many varieties of coastal terrain offering views of the historic battle site. We also get some stunning views of the refineries and the ship channel that have made our city what it is.
Santa Ana Bayou Trail is poorly maintained and has native rose stems poking into the path. If you have a pair of pruning shears please bring them to help clear the path.
About HATs and our hikes
https://www.hatsandmore.org/
HATs organizers are not guides nor do we have any special training. We are here to come up with hiking ideas and get the hike started. Expect the same risks and take the same precautions you would if hiking alone, including the fitness level to make long hikes. Then enjoy the hike among friends.
We hike about 3 MPH. This is faster than many walking groups.
Trail Safety:
The heat index is now regularly around 90° F before noon. Hiking is supposed to be fun. If you don't feel well or can't keep up, tell someone right away. Stop walking so it doesn't become something serious. Contact the hike leader. We can help get you off the trail.
