The Hike:
We will start on the dirt trails along the wetlands of Mayde Creek. Assuming those trails have been repaired and reopened. if not and the weather cooperates we can take a spin on the trail that goes further up Mayde Creek. Then shift to the hike and bike path that leads to Bear Creek Park.

About HATs and our hikes:
https://www.hatsandmore.org/

HATs organizers are not guides nor do we have any special training. We are here to come up with hiking ideas and get the hike started. Expect the same risks and take the same precautions you would if hiking alone, including the fitness level to make long hikes. Then enjoy the hike among friends.

We hike about 3 MPH. This is faster than many walking groups.

Safety Precautions:
The heat index is still approaching 90° F before noon. Consider your heat tolerance. Start the day well hydrated.

Hiking is supposed to be fun. If you don't feel well or can't keep up, tell someone right away. Stop walking so it doesn't become something serious. Call the hike leader. We can help get you off the trail.

What to You Need:
Supportive sports shoes, water, snacks and a hat.

Gathering Point:
Cullen Park Pavilions
19008 Saums Rd, Houston, TX 77084

Use the north entrance from Saums Road and around drive to second bathhouse. We will be in that area.

Occasionally there are large school track events in the park. If parking looks difficult, just grab a spot and walk to the meeting place.
