HBB's April Stephen King book club will be reading The Long Walk!
The group will meet at the table in the back of the store.
About the book:
Against the wishes of his mother, sixteen-year-old Ray Garraty is about to compete in the annual grueling match of stamina and wits known as The Long Walk. One hundred boys must keep a steady pace of four miles per hour without ever stopping... with the winner being awarded "The Prize"—anything he wants for the rest of his life. But, as part of this national tournament that sweeps through a dystopian America year after year, there are some harsh rules that Garraty and ninety-nine others must adhere to in order to beat out the rest. There is no finish line—the winner is the last man standing. Contestants cannot receive any outside aid whatsoever. Slow down under the speed limit and you're given a warning. About the Bookstore:
Book club attendees get 10% of their purchase the day of the event!
Bathroom: All gender, but small and not normally available to the public because it's in the back office. The owner is making exceptions for people who are at the store for events. The sink is outside the bathroom.
Accessibility: There are no stairs. The bookstore aisles are wide enough for a wheelchair. The bathroom is not, however, and might not be accessible for disabled people who use other devices. It's very small and it's in the back office.
Covid: Masks optional. There will be an air purifier.
Parking: Parking on Sundays is free! But can be a little difficult to find, so come early to find a spot. Attendees are encouraged to use public transit.
Drinks are welcome, but please no food unless medically needed.
