Note New Venue!
Are you drowning in a sea of PDFs, articles, and research notes? Do you struggle to connect ideas across dozens of different sources?
Join us at the Manoa Innovation Center for a practical, hands-on workshop where you'll learn how to connect your personal research library directly to powerful AI models. We will demystify the tools that put you in control, allowing you to ask complex questions of your own curated content, generate summaries in seconds, and uncover connections you never knew existed.
In this workshop, you will learn to:
- Master the Fundamentals: Get a rapid, practical introduction to Zotero, the essential open-source tool for managing your research papers, articles, and sources.
- Understand the "Magic" Connector: We'll demystify what a Model Configuration Protocol (MCP) is and why it’s a game-changer for securely connecting AI to your personal data.
- Get Hands-On with Zotero-MCP: We'll be working with the most widely-adopted open-source Zotero MCP project from start to finish. Follow a live walkthrough of the Zotero-MCP installation process.
- Witness AI in Action: See a live demonstration of how to "talk" to your research library using AI applications like Claude Desktop. Ask it to "summarize the key findings from these 20 papers" or "what are the main arguments against this theory in my collection?"
- Introducing Chorus: We'll also take a look at the Chorus multi-model interface (Mac only!) and see how we can ask many models at once about our library.
- Explore Beyond Academia: We'll brainstorm how this workflow can be a superpower for business intelligence, competitive analysis, grant writing, corporate knowledge management, and more.
Who should attend:
This event is for researchers, graduate students, analysts, consultants, writers, developers, and any curious professional who works with a large volume of information and wants to leverage AI to work smarter. What to bring:
To get the most out of the hands-on portion of the workshop, please bring a laptop with the latest version of Zotero already installed (https://www.zotero.org/).---
