Origami Club Restarting!

Details

I realize it has been a very, very long time since I have written. It is amazing to think about how much time has passed. I started this club in 2010, and had the chance to meet so many people. Then, between finishing college, getting married, and other life things, Ashley took over the club from 2014. She kept the club running until most activities took a hiatus in 2020. Since then, the club has been quiet, but I would like to get some events going again.

But first, I realize that I am writing to a lot of people I haven't caught up with in a long time. If you want to catch up, feel free to write back! Or, through whatever reason, you wish to unsubscribe from the e-mail, just let me know. If you are receiving this through MeetUp, you may need to unsubscribe there.

As far as the first meeting, I would like this to be by invitation only since I will be hosting at my home in Honolulu town (which has limited space), and this would also be a meeting to talk about the direction of the club.

I will be writing to more of the active folders I have met in the past in some way or another. But I am writing to everyone because I realize this could be a lot of people, and that my memory is not infallible. So if you feel I did not consider you, and you want to be involved in the direction of the club, please feel free to write back.

This first meeting will be Saturday October 28th, 1:00-4:00. Again, I'll be sending an invite via e-mail right after this, if you do not receive one, and you feel you are someone that qualifies for this, please let me know. I'm not quite sure how to do specific invites on MeetUp.

When we meet, I would also like to start planning the next meeting for a suitable time and public venue. I anticipate that a November meeting might be a bit too soon. But I believe we could probably schedule something for early December, because Thanksgiving and Christmas time tends to be busy for a lot of people. If anyone has ideas for good public places to meet and fold, please share them!

I would also like to ask for some volunteers for the Japan day hosted by JASH (Japan Academic Society of Hawaii) to lead origami tables. It is Thursday, Nov 2, and the Japanese Culture Center of Hawaii. Please let me know if you would like to come help teach! I'll post another MeetUp for that, but you do need to arrange in advance for this.

I hope this message finds you well, and gets you excited about us folding again!
