POSTPONED: Intermediate Chestnut Mountain 90 Minute Hike

Chestnut Mountain has put out they will be open by August 23, but they will not be open by August 3. As a result, we are having to postpone our event. So sorry! Please watch for the new event on September 21.

Chestnut Mountain is a hike/bike park east of Canton on Old Asheville Highway. It has been closed since Hurricane Helene. They say they will re-open this summer; if they do so, surely it will be opened by August 3!

We will walk up the Papertown Express Trail to Berm Park, the starting location for multiple biking trails. Then we will continue our walk on the middle portion of the Papertown Express Trail. After 45 minutes we will retrace our steps to the bottom of the mountain. The majority of this walk is rated intermediate.

Walking sticks are useful as significant portions of the trail are fairly steep. Hiking boots are good, though I have done the walk in tennis shoes. Dress for the weather; consider a hat and sunscreen. Please bring water and a protein snack. Dogs are welcome. Strollers are not recommended.

We will meet by the entrance trail map at 2:00 p.m. and step off as soon as everybody is there.
