New Bears on Main Street: Hendersonville City Walk, Saturday, August 23

Details
Our MeetUp group will be joining the Asheville Amblers, AARP, Stryder, and perhaps some others. The walk is free, but the Amblers accept donations ($4 suggested).
The Hendersonville city walk will be on Saturday, August 23rd. Step off time is 9:00 with registration starting at 8:30. We will meet at the Visitor Center at 201 S. Main St.
There will be 5K/3 mile and 10K/6 mile options available, guided by experienced leaders. The 5K group will take a relatively slower pace, while the 10K group will take a quicker pace. The walk features moderate hills and stair climbing, almost entirely on pavement.
It meanders through the downtown area, past the new bears on Main, and past quaint shops and restaurants for all tastes. The walk continues through historic neighborhoods to Patton Park and Oakdale Cemetery where the angel inspiring Thomas Wolfe's "Look Homeward Angel" is located.
Dress for the weather. Consider a hat and sunscreen. Bring lots of water and a protein snack. Tennis shoes are fine. Some may want to use a walking stick (I plan to use one). Strollers will be fine. Dogs are welcome.
