Copperhead Trail at Haywood Community College—Here's Hoping for Some Color Left
Details
Let's hope for some leaf color left with an easy walk at Haywood Community College! Whether you bring someone or come alone, we are going to have a good time walking.
To get to the Copperhead Trail from our start point, we will go counter-clockwise on the Bobcat Trail, and then take the Millpond Connector to the Copperhead Trail. When we intersect with the Kingfisher Trail, we will turn left, finishing the campus loop on the Bobcat Trail. All together, it isn't over 2 miles. Part of the walk is on pavement, part on well-groomed trail, and part on not-as-well groomed trail. There is some small elevation change.
As you enter the campus from Jones Cove Road, go to the first parking lot on the left. We will gather there and then head out.
Be sure to dress for the weather. I'm going to wear tennis shoes, unless it has rained a lot recently (in which case, I will wear light hiking boots). I plan to bring one walking stick, just in case. As always, you are urged to bring plenty of water and a protein snack. Dogs are welcome. Trail strollers should not have any problem. There are no bathrooms available on a Sunday afternoon, so take care of such needs before you arrive.
