Mountain Trail Hike to Reach the Top of Catawba Falls and the Overview
Details
Our MeetUp group will join with the Asheville Amblers, AARP, Stryder, and perhaps some other groups to hike the mountain trail to the top of Catawba Falls and the overview, out and back, a 5 KM/3 mi. trip. The climb is gradual and the trail is wide and hard packed. Those who want a 10 KM/6 mi. hike will also walk back down the road seeing the sights down to the Catawba Camp, again, out and back. Walk to an artist's field of metal and wood sculptures including a full-sized Tin Man.
Be sure to get there on time because this is a popular walk and parking fills up quickly. Meet to register at the parking lot by the trailhead at 9:00. Step-off will be at 9:15. The walk is free, although the Amblers do accept donations (suggested donation: $4.00). This will be a guided hike.
Dress for the weather. It is an intermediate hike with significant elevation change, but it is advisable to wear light hiking boots and bring walking sticks. Bring water and a protein snack. You may not want to bring your dog this time, especially a smaller dog. Strollers, even trail strollers, are not recommended.
I hope to see you there.
