We will be walking with the Asheville Amblers, AARP, the Cardinals Elite Walking Team, Stryder, and perhaps some other groups. Meet at the Biltmore Estate Reception and Ticketing Center at 9:30 a.m. to register. Grounds admission is required, and fairly expensive; we recommend an annual pass. If you don't have an annual pass, we advise making your reservation online before you come.

The walk starts at 10:15 a.m. from the front of the Biltmore House on the left front corner as you face the house. This walk is not suited to strollers or wheelchairs. Pets are not allowed inside the House, though they are allowed on the grounds.

There will be two options: either a 5 KM walk or a 10 KM walk. Both walks will be guided.

The 5 KM option passes through gardens on often and seldom used trails and goes down to the Bass Pond; what goes down must come back up.

The 10 KM option also uses the even more seldom used Deer Park Trail and goes over decent sized hills to the Lagoon. It will take 2.5 hours or so, but the pace will be faster and a bit strenuous. You may want your walking sticks for the 10 KM option.

Add the House tour at additional cost for an extra 2 KM.

Bring water and a protein snack. The walk proceeds rain or shine, dress appropriately. Consider a hat and sunscreen. Some of this walk is on natural surface trails, so if the ground is wet you may want hiking boots or at least tennis shoes you don't mind getting muddy.
