Gardens of Haywood Community College + 3 Laps of the Bobcat Trail
Details
Three laps on the Bobcat Trail amounts to 3.1 miles. Bobcat consists of both natural and paved surfaces. There is a little elevation change on the route, but nothing too strenuous.
We will stop to look at a different garden on each counterclockwise lap. The first lap we will stop at the Bird and Butterfly Garden. The second lap we will stop at the Dahlia Garden. The third lap we will stop at the Rhododendron Garden. All three should be in beautiful bloom. Bring your camera!
As you enter the campus from Jones Cove Road, go to the first parking lot on the left. We will gather there and then head out.
Be sure to dress for the weather. Consider sunscreen and a hat. I'm going to wear tennis shoes, unless it has rained a lot recently (in which case, I will wear light hiking boots). I plan to bring my walking sticks.
As always, you are urged to bring plenty of water and a protein snack. Dogs are welcome. Trail strollers should not have much problem. There are no bathrooms available that afternoon, so take care of such needs before you arrive.
