Historic Columbia SC Morning Walk—Governor's Mansion, Finlay Park, and More!
Details
Meet at 10:00 a.m. in the lobby of the Hampton Inn, 822 Gervais Street, Columbia 29223 (enter the lobby from the Lincoln Street side). Restrooms are available at the start point.
The trail takes you past the Woodrow Wilson Boyhood Home, around the Governor's Mansion, through the newly reopened Finlay Park, and through Memorial Park.
There are some moderate hills and stair climbing, but it is almost entirely on pavement. Tennis shoes are fine; some may want walking sticks or hiking boots.
Dress for the weather. It will likely be very hot. A hat and sunscreen are highly recommended.
Plenty of water and a protein snack are advised as always. Wheelchairs are not recommended, although strollers ought to be ok. Dogs are welcome.
Our Meetup group offers some version of this walk every three months. It's that good! You will surely enjoy it.
Traditionally, many of us eat at Five Guys (near the start point) after the walk. There are lots of other restaurants nearby. Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy your meal after you join the group for the walk.
