We will be doing this family-friendly walk with the Asheville Amblers Walking Club, and perhaps some from AARP, Stryder, the Cardinals Elite Walking Team, and others. The walk is free, although the Amblers do accept donations (suggested donation: $4.00).

We'll meet at the Carrier River Park Pavilion at 8:30 to register. Step off at 9:00. 6 KM and 10 KM options are available. Both will be guided walks with mostly paved surface and little elevation change. The 6 KM walk will be at a somewhat slower pace (to smell the roses). The 10 KM will be at a somewhat faster pace (what roses?).

We will stroll through several connecting parks on shaded walkways. On the way we'll see how the Greenway has recovered from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, especially the Velodrome (converted from an old speedway). We will also see a dog park and perhaps some lawn bowlers.

Normal walking shoes are fine. Stick not required unless you want to. (I'll probably take one, just in case.) Always carry lots of water and a protein snack. Dogs are welcome. Strollers should be fine. Wheelchairs designed for trail use are recommended.

Directions: 220 Amboy Rd., Asheville. From I-40 take Exit 47 toward West Asheville. Merge onto I-26 West/I-240 East.
Go 3/10 mile and exit right on Amboy Rd (Exit 1C). Go 1/10 mile and turn right through stone pillars into Carrier Park parking lot. Park toward left near the pavilion.

See you there.
