We are joining the Asheville Amblers Walking Club, AARP, Stryder, and perhaps some others, for this walk. It will proceed rain or shine (unless there is thunder). Dress according to that morning's weather forecast. If it is sunny and hot, you may want a hat and sunscreen.

Whatever the temperature, please bring plenty of water and a protein snack.

There are some hills, but this walk is nearly all on pavement. Tennis shoes are fine, but some may want walking sticks due to elevation changes (nothing too strenuous). This walk would not be good for wheelchairs and would be rather difficult for strollers. Dogs on leash would be ok.

Enjoy portions of the Urban Trail through the vibrant art deco downtown and the ambience of a designated "All American City". Visit the Grove Arcade with shops and restaurants to depict its original uniqueness as an indoor shopping mall back in the 1920s. Walk by the Thomas Wolfe Home, well known author of Look Homeward, Angel and You Can't Go Home Again. Visit several old neighborhoods of Asheville and the Greenway along Reed Creek. Walk through the beautiful, historic Montford District with old homes and B&Bs. Stroll through the historic Riverside Cemetery where O'Henry and Thomas Wolfe are buried.

We will register at 8:30 in the parking lot behind the Asheville Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center. Look for us near the middle of the second or third parking level down. The walk is free, although donations to the Amblers would be accepted. (Suggested donation: $4.00.) Step-off will be at 9:00.

Choose between a 7 KM/4 mile and a 10 KM/6 mile version of the walk. The walk will be guided by experienced group walking leaders. The 7 KM group will proceed at a slightly slower pace; the 10 KM group will proceed at a slightly faster pace.

This is a beautiful walk and one you won't want to miss. See you there!
