Just in Case: Native Pollinator Gardening and Monarch Basics Presentation

Details

We will be hosting our Honey Tasting event soon, and I know many of you garden, so I thought I would post this opportunity just in case some of you might be interested.

I am teaching a Pollinator Gardening and Monarch Basics session at the Dripping Springs Community Library today at 12:30 PM. After having the class vetted by a group of Master Gardeners, I received feedback that it is the best presentation on the topic that one of the senior members has ever experienced.

I am a Hays County Master Gardener, and one of my specialties is creating Certified Monarch Waystation pollinator conservation gardens and working with Texas native and native-adaptive plants. I lead the refresh of the pollinator garden areas in front of the Dripping Springs Community Library and will be leading phase 2 of that project in late summer.

During this class you will learn:

  • Must-have Texas native and native-adaptive pollinator plants
  • What types of plants attract which pollinators
  • How to create a garden that will attract the specific pollinators you want (hummingbirds, bees, butterflies, etc.)
  • Why pollinators are necessary for a more productive veggie garden
  • Monarch butterfly basics and requirements for Monarch Waystation Certification
  • How to identify our area's native milkweed species (vital for Monarch butterflies)

I hope some of you can attend! I also hope to see you at the upcoming honey tasting that will feature honeys from all over the world!
