Garden of Trolls and The Pimple

Details
Hike Description: Join us for a visit to the Garden of Trolls and then a short hike to The Pimple. The Garden of Trolls is a small area on a bench between the Dewdrop Range and Red Plateau. The rock features of the area are giant boulders of volcanic origin all pockmarked with holes and cracks. These boulders led to the name Garden of Trolls as it sends the imagination to thinking of stone trolls (Tolkien). The trail is about 1.3 km in and 1.3 km back on the same trail. It is a nice walk amongst Douglas Fir and Juniper. The Pimple is a short 1km hike just 5 minute drive further down the road. This trail is short but steep with some loose gravel and may not be for everyone. At the top you are rewarded with a spectacular view which makes it well worth the climb. However the view from the base of the hill is also worth the stop.
Where to go: We will meet at a gravel parking lot on your left (flood plain) where Tranquille Rd intersects with Tranquille-Criss Creek Rd. and drive up in a convoy. This is right before you would turn to go to the Tranquille Farm. You will see our Red Toyota Tacoma pickup.
Things to Know: Dress appropriately for the weather. Wear comfortable socks and hiking shoes/boots or shoes with good grip. Bring water and a snack.
Disclaimer: We are not professional hiking guides but people who enjoy hiking and the outdoors with like minded people. You hike at your own risk. Know your abilities.
