Why You're Exhausted Even When You Rest
Details
You took the weekend off. You slept in. You cancelled the plans, said no to the extra commitment, maybe even had a full day of doing nothing.
And you still woke up tired.
If that sounds familiar, you've probably wondered — at least once — whether something is wrong with you.
Whether you're lazy.
Whether you're depressed.
Whether this is just what life feels like now and you need to accept it.
You're not broken. You're not lazy. And this isn't just "adulting."
Your nervous system is stuck in survival mode — and survival mode doesn't care that you took a nap.
In this workshop, we're going to look at what's actually happening beneath the exhaustion that rest can't touch.
- Why your body is working overtime even when you're doing nothing.
- Why your brain won't quiet down even when you're technically relaxed.
- And — most importantly — what actually helps, when sleep and self-care and "just taking a break" aren't enough.
This workshop is for you if:
- You rest and still feel tired — physically, mentally, emotionally, or all three
- You describe yourself as "always on" even when nothing is technically happening
- You feel guilty resting because your brain won't stop running through everything you should be doing
- You've tried the bubble baths, the meditation apps, the early bedtimes — and the exhaustion is still there
- You carry a low-level hum of anxiety, tension, or heaviness that never fully goes away, even on good days
- You've been through a period of prolonged stress, burnout, trauma, or emotional overload — and your body hasn't quite caught up yet
- You're a high-achieving professional woman who is tired of being tired and ready to understand what's actually going on underneath
You don't need to be at your worst to show up. Whether you're in the thick of burnout or just noticing that rest stopped working the way it used to — this space is for you.
Come as you are. No performance required.
(And no, you don't have to show up on camera, but I recommend that you do- pajamas, sweats or whatever- because there's something empowering that helps you to shift even more when you participate, and connect with, the community around you.
This is a shame-free room where exhaustion is taken seriously, not minimized, and where you'll be met with understanding rather than a list of things you should be doing differently.
This is a (gently) interactive experience — not a lecture, and not a wellness checklist.
We'll explore what nervous system dysregulation actually feels like from the inside — in your body, not just in theory.
Expect somatic check-ins that help you identify where your system is holding on, a live hypnotherapy-inspired regulation practice you can use immediately, and honest conversation about what it actually takes to move from surviving to genuinely restored.
Because the goal isn't better sleep hygiene. It's helping your nervous system remember that it's safe to rest — maybe for the first time in a long time.
Led by Jennifer Dettloff-Carter, Board-Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Visibility Mindset Coach — specializing in helping ambitious women heal the subconscious patterns and nervous system responses that keep them exhausted, overextended, and running on empty long after they've stopped.
