Digital Humanism: How Healdsburg's small-town values can transform technology

Details
In the second installment of our Crafted Conversation tech series, seasoned software professional and former Healdsburg City Councilmember Joe Naujokas will present an overview of the Digital Humanism movement and how the "small-town values" of this human-first philosophy can disrupt how we think about and implement digital technology. For the discussion period, Joe will engage with the the audience to explore practical scenarios of how we can apply this philosophy in the daily pursuit of our crafts.
Following the presentation and discussion period, Joe and Danny Brennan will propose a framework for organizing and promoting future Crafted Conversations for this group.
And remember, all are invited, so please share with whomever you think would be interested in attending!
About the Healdsburg Digital Humanists
We are practitioners of various crafts living and/or working in the Healdsburg area who are passionate about using digital technology in interesting ways. We love our crafts, we love learning, and we love Healdsburg’s small-town values. We also spend much of our work day in front of a screen solving highly abstract puzzles - an already lonely situation exacerbated by the remote work forced on us by the pandemic. We crave the human connection that has been missing from our lives over the past year.
The point of this group is to connect as Healdsburg neighbors - to learn from each other, support each other, challenge each other, and enjoy each other's company while learning about how our fellow craft practitioners in Healdsburg are using technology - to paraphrase the original Digital Humanist, Ada Lovelace - to serve the most effective use of our humanity.
