Silent Meditation & Chakra Breath Flow
Join us for a restorative and grounding session to reconnect with your body, mind, and spirit.
We’ll begin with a Chakra Mantra Breath Flow—a gentle, seated practice where we bring awareness to each of the seven chakras, using the Sanskrit mantras So Ham (on the inhale) and Ham Sa (on the exhale) to align breath, focus, and energy.
After this guided opening, we’ll move into a 20-minute silent meditation, allowing space for stillness, presence, and inner listening.
We’ll close with optional open sharing, where you can speak about your experience or simply listen and hold space for others.
What to bring:
- A comfortable place to sit (chair, cushion, or mat)
- An open heart and a willingness to be present
All experience levels are welcome—whether you’re new to meditation or a long-time practitioner.
## Meaning of the Sanskrit Words
### So Ham (सो हम्)
- Translation: “I am That”
- Deeper meaning: It points to the idea that your true self is one with the universal consciousness — “That” being the divine, the infinite, God, Source, or however you relate to it.
- Use in practice: Often linked with the inhale, it’s like breathing in the reminder that your essence is whole, complete, and connected.
### Ham Sa (हं सः)
- Translation: “I am That” as well, but sometimes phrased as “I am He/She/It” or “I am the Swan” (in Vedic symbolism, the swan represents the soul’s ability to navigate the material and spiritual worlds).
- In practice: Inverted (Ham on inhale, Sa on exhale) it mirrors the natural sound of breathing and becomes a meditative affirmation of self-awareness.

## Why It’s Beneficial
### 1. Breath-Mind Synchronization
Repeating these mantras with the breath helps anchor your awareness, quiet mental chatter, and signal safety to the nervous system — especially helpful if you’ve been in a stressed or “fight-or-flight” state.
### 2. Energetic Alignment
When you pair the mantra with moving your focus through the seven chakras (root to crown and back), it can help you tune into each energy center, notice sensations, and restore balance.
### 3. Universal Connection
The phrase “I am That” is a gentle but powerful reminder that you are part of something bigger — which can bring a sense of belonging, humility, and peace.
### 4. Natural Breath Mantra
If you listen closely to your own breathing, the sound so often matches the inhale and ham the exhale. Using the mantra aligns with your body’s natural rhythm, making it effortless and calming.
