# Midweek Meditation: Yoga Nidra (Guided Rest Practice)
For many of us who grew up in dysfunctional families, rest never felt truly safe. We learned to stay on guard, to overthink, to keep performing or caretaking—often at the expense of our own nervous system.
Yoga Nidra, sometimes called “yogic sleep,” is a guided meditation that gently shifts the body out of survival mode and into deep rest. In this 30-minute session, I’ll read from a Yoga Nidra text designed to help you release hypervigilance, nurture your inner child, and experience what it feels like to be safe in stillness.
### What to Expect
- A brief settling-in with breath awareness
- A guided Yoga Nidra practice (20–25 minutes)
- Gentle closing to return refreshed and grounded
### Why It’s Especially Powerful for Adult Children
- Shifts the nervous system from fight-or-flight into safety
- Releases hypervigilance and overthinking
- Nurtures the inner child with unconditional rest
- Builds a felt sense of safety in the body
- Offers healing without needing to analyze or perform
No yoga experience is needed. Just come as you are—lie down or sit comfortably, close your eyes, and allow yourself to be guided.
Leave feeling more rested, restored, and connected to the safety within you.
