Mini Healing Circle: Shifting out of Fight or Flight Survival Response

Details
Shifting out of Fight or Flight Survival Response - A Mini Healing Circle
Many of us grew up in families where our nervous systems were always on high alert—waiting for the next conflict, the next silence, or the next shift in mood. This mini healing circle is designed to guide you from fight-or-flight into rest-and-receive—so your body remembers it’s safe to soften.
In this 30-minute online gathering, you’ll experience:
Grounding Breath – Learn a simple 4–6 breathing practice to calm your body.
Somatic Sounding – Use gentle hums, sighs, and tones to soothe your nervous system.
Gentle Movement – Shake and release tension to complete the stress cycle.
Stillness & Reflection – Rest in silence, journal with prompts, and notice your shift.
Closing Affirmation – End with a group affirmation: “I am safe. I can rest. I can receive.”
This session is trauma-informed and designed to be soothing for the nervous system, using gentle, body-led practices that support regulation and calm.
This session is open to all — whether you’re new to healing practices or looking to deepen your connection with yourself. Come as you are, and give yourself the gift of presence.
No prior experience is needed — just wear comfortable clothing and bring a journal or notebook if you’d like to write.

### Core Principles of Trauma-Informed Practice
- Safety – Physical, emotional, and energetic safety are prioritized. People aren’t pushed to do anything that feels overwhelming.
- Choice – Participants have agency; they can opt in or out of any practice, change positions, or just observe without pressure.
- Collaboration – The facilitator and participants are in a shared experience, rather than a top-down “expert/subject” dynamic.
- Empowerment – Focus is on strengths, resilience, and self-trust rather than on deficits or “fixing.”
- Cultural Humility – Recognizing and respecting that people’s experiences, beliefs, and bodies are shaped by diverse backgrounds.

### Why It Matters for Healing
- Many trauma survivors are hyper-aware of threat cues (tone of voice, body language, abrupt changes), so being mindful of these creates a safe space where healing can actually happen.
- The nervous system learns safety through experience, not just logic — so a calm, respectful, choice-based space helps the body downshift out of survival mode.
- Avoiding re-traumatization means you don’t accidentally trigger someone into reliving their trauma through overly intense, invasive, or fast-paced practices.
