Tea Time: What's Next? (Partner Loss/Spouse Loss)
Details
A gathering for people who are living life after the early days of grief.
Most partner loss groups are designed for people who are newly bereaved.
But what about those of us who are years down the road?
Those of us who are farther along in learning how to carry our grief, even though it still shows up in unexpected moments.
Those of us whose friends and family assume we're doing fine because time has passed.
Those of us who still miss our person, still encounter awkward comments, still navigate anniversaries, holidays, changing identities, complicated families, new relationships, or the strange experience of building a life that includes both grief and hope.
This gathering is for you.
Whether you were married, engaged, dating, or lifelong partners...whether you were together for two years or forty...whether your relationship was a fairytale or complicated…whether you are straight, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer...you are welcome here.
This is not a crisis support group or a group for those in the earliest days after losing their partner. Instead, it's a place for people who are no longer in acute grief but still know that widowhood continues to shape their lives.
We'll talk about the things that don't always fit into traditional grief groups, like:
• Living with grief years later
• Identity after loss
• Dating, new relationships, remarriage, and the complicated emotions that come with them
• Friendships and family after everyone else has moved on
• The ridiculous, frustrating, and sometimes hilarious things people say
• Finding purpose, meaning, joy, and connection while continuing to love and miss the person who died
• Whatever is on your mind that day
There is no agenda to fix your grief or tell you how you should or shouldn’t be living your life now.
Just thoughtful conversation with others who have experienced the death of a spouse or partner and who understand that grief changes over time – but doesn't simply disappear.
If you’ve been wishing there were a space where you can talk about life after loss and what’s next, this group is for you.
Missing your person, figuring out who you are now, and finding your way forward don’t end when the casseroles stop coming or when everyone else thinks you are okay.
Sometimes, that’s exactly when the next chapter begins.
