Mountain Clean-up Hike at Wadi Sena, Fujairah (Easy-Moderate hike)

Laziness and carelessness have bred a culture of habitual littering in the UAE. Carelessness has made people throw rubbish anywhere without thinking about the consequences of their actions. And the sad part is many people do not realize or underestimate the negative impacts of littering on the environment.

It's not the responsibility of one person or the government alone to clean the public places here in the UAE. When we go to the mountains to witness their beauty and appreciate their grand presence, all of us must have a sense of responsibility towards keeping its surroundings clean . Littering is not an option here; it's a crime to taint the beauty of the mountain with your incapability of disposing the waste properly.

Our next clean up drive is on the 30th of January, 2021 in Wadi Sena, Fujairah starting 8:00 AM

We are inviting volunteers who have a thirst for adventure and a heart to preserve and protect nature. And with the clean-up, Mother Nature shall bestow upon your soul a wholesome and a gratifying experience.

Before we share more details on the hike, please note the very simple rules as part of the Mountain Clean-up Drive.

1. All the volunteers will be handed trash bags and gloves before the trek. We have few trash grabber sticks as well which helps you to pick the trash without bending down.

2. Our main focus is to experience the Mountain's beauty and help clean it of plastics, glasses, and other non-biodegradable contents.

3. We are going to keep the trash bags filled with garbage in the nearest dustbin area on our way to the hike. If that is not possible, we will pack it neatly and put flags for others to see and help us in keeping these trash bags to the nearest dustbin areas later and inform the authorities for their help.

4. All Volunteers are required to adhere to the Covid-19 safety guidelines such as wearing masks, social distancing etc.

5. Needless to say that no littering from our side is appreciated.

Type: Easy to Moderate (We will walk on the off-road trail towards the Wadi which is a plain steep road for few kms. For someone looking for little more challenge, there is also hike by the wadi and its slope)

Time: 8:00 AM at the Meeting Point

Distance: Approx. 7-8 kms.

Elevation Gain: 1200 ft.

Duration: 4 to 5 Hours

What to bring:
1- 3 LTR water is mandatory

2- Hiking shoes

3- Chocolates, energy bars, bananas, oranges etc (at least one of the items is a must carry)

4- Sun screen/Sun glasses

5- Hat/Cap

6- Backpack to carry your things (kindly try to bring sports or hiking bags)

7- Facemasks

Avoid:

1- Pets
2- Playing loud music on Portable speaker/phone while hiking
3- Joining while you are feeling sick (fever, cough specifically)

Notes:

1- Please note that there is no official tour company which is organizing this. We are just sharing one cause of exploring the mountains with the like-minded people and doing our bit to keep the Mountain clean.

2- Hot tea / Snacks will be served after the hiking.
