MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
My name is David Gimby. I first learned the Yang Style 24 Form in 1974 at Grand Valley State College. Over the years since then I have also studied and trained in Tang Soo Do, Shotokan Karate, Isshinryu Karate, and Kobujutsu, earning Black Belts in the latter two arts. For the last ten years I have practiced Taiji with a Chinese group in Canton Michigan learning more advanced forms and participating in many public Taiji performances including sword, saber, fan, stick, and cane. For three summers I provided Taiji instruction for the Wayne State University Confucius Institute, and gave Taiji seminars at Toyota and Ford Motor Company. In 2017 and 2018 I performed several Taiji forms which were broadcast live to all Ford facilities worldwide during the International Festival. Taiji practice calms the mind, strengthens the body, and improves balance, memory, and breathing. It is easy to begin and yet offers the challenge of an endless variety of skills to master.
