The Emotional Palette: Food Memories in Watercolour
In this 3 part creative series participants will explore their personal connection to a meaningful dish by expressing the emotions it carries using colour, shape and abstract elements to tell its story. Iara will guide you through the use of various watercolour techniques and colour theory to paint a cherished culinary memory, and to convey its deeper meaning in your life.
About Art on the Wall | @artonthewallyvr
In 2023 Sharon saw an empty wall and an idea emerged to fill it with life: get local artists featured while decorating the space. But it didn't stop there, she wanted to bridge art and people, to build community around Oakridge. Through these fundraising workshops ( bigger things to come), you can learn different art forms to connect with yourself and others.
About Feast & Fallow | @feastandfallowcafe
Stevan Mirkovich, chef and owner of the vegan café, is energetic, bright, and very passionate about all things food: food waste, food security, food sustainability systems. He shares the space he's built at Feast & Fallow bringing specialty coffee and plant-based food and baking to the forefront of community and connection in a world of isolation.
About the artist | Iara
Iara is a multimedia and multidisciplinary artist and teacher based in Maple Ridge. They use colours, textures and movement to express stories in their work. Whether the subjects are people, animals, food or nature, each piece speaks to the viewer.
