Midday Session - Hello HealthTech Challenge (BlueChilli/Westpac) Briefing

Details

We're hosting a Midday Session for those interested in applying to the Hello HealthTech Challenge. PK Rasam from BlueChilli will be in residence to provide an overview of the Challenge and answer questions.

Challenge details below:

Westpac and BlueChilli are collaborating to give you an opportunity to win $40,000 to fuel your early stage startup. Now in its third year, the Westpac Innovation Challenge continues to be a platform for entrepreneurs to put forward innovative new solutions to help Australian businesses.

This year, we’re tackling Healthcare with #HelloHealthTech.
Improvements in healthcare for businesses and patients will undoubtedly be driven by ideas that boost

productivity and improve patient experiences.

If you have an idea for using new technologies in innovative ways to solve problems for businesses and ancillary services in the healthcare industry, then this is your opportunity.

You don’t have to be a healthcare startup specifically; your idea or technology can be much broader as long as it can be used in a healthcare context to increase productivity or enhance patient care. This might include solutions for:

• Ideas that improve practice management via enhancements in data integrations to third-party systems or new tools that reduce administrative tasks;

• Improved managements and use of patient data;

• New systems that streamline payments between providers and patients, and transfers from government funding sources;

• Ways to reduce duplication and improve efficiencies;
Providing more efficient healthcare across models using digital technologies; and

• Education, skills and learning.

Along with cash and an opportunity to pitch your ideas for further investment to the BlueChilli Venture Fund, Westpac will assist in providing the information and tools needed to thrive in this competitive market.

Apply with your startup idea

$40,000 Prize Money

5 startups will be selected to pitch their idea to Westpac. The winner will receive: $40,000 cash;

Strategic support, insights and advice from the Westpac Innovation team and executive thought leaders as you develop your product and market it to customers;

The winner will also have an opportunity to meet with BlueChilli to discuss a placement in the BlueChilli Accelerator program for further development of their idea over a 6 month period. This may include consideration for an additional $25,000 in investment funding contingent on mutually agreed terms between BlueChilli and the Challenge winner.

The Top 5 startups will all receive intensive pitch training and business advice from the BlueChilli team prior to pitching their ideas to the Westpac Digital and Innovation teams.

The People’s Choice winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize.

As a major supporter of the healthcare sector in Australia, Westpac will also introduce the finalists and ultimate winner to industry influencers and decision makers that could help your innovation launch and grow in the market. Our aim is to help you change an early stage idea into a viable and valuable business.

Who should apply?

If you are an entrepreneur, medical practitioner, researcher or innovator with great ideas for how technology can benefit Australian healthcare, then the Westpac Innovation Challenge could be the competition for you. All you need is a great idea that uses technology in innovative ways to drive productivity in healthcare.

What ideas can I apply with?

Do you see innovative solutions for how technology can improve productivity, lower costs, reduce time to deliver patient care or better manage the healthcare supply chain? For example, have you thought of new real-time payment solutions to replace legacy systems, or new solutions that integrate data between medical practices, insurers, patients?
