In March of 2020, the emerging coronavirus pandemic was creating dire situations in hospitals and healthcare settings across the country, with crucial supplies in high demand and limited availability.

Join us on April 21 to learn about how a small group of emergency physicians recognized the critical need to get personal protective equipment (PPE) to healthcare workers and, within days, built a team of 200+ volunteers across the country to get PPE like gloves, masks, and isolation gowns to frontline workers.

Dr. Shikha Gupta, Executive Director of Get Us PPE (https://getusppe.org/) and recently honored as one of the “100 rising stars who are shaping the future” as a 2021 TIME100 Next honoree, discusses the day-by-day story of how the Get Us PPE movement began in the first few days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

From a hashtag, to an editorial to an online petition, Dr Gupta will discuss how their team identified a need, determined that they could make an impact, and set about getting the right people needed to create the process and infrastructure that would move 8.5 million pieces of PPE to frontline workers.

Founded in late March of 2020, the Get Us PPE team is a coalition of physicians, scientists, engineers, technologists, and concerned citizens who have built the nation’s largest platform for grassroots PPE donations, getting personal protective equipment to frontline workers who need it most.
