What we’re about

As Healthcare IT professionals, we know very well the complexity of developing and managing the multitude of systems and technologies that undergird hospitals and health systems.

Healthcare interoperability standards seek to tame this complexity by standardizing protocols and procedures but after many years of innovation in this area, the standards themselves have become complex and at times even unwieldy and onerous.

More recently, standards organizations like Integrating the Health Enterprise (IHE), Health Level Seven International® (HL7) and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) have made great strides in simplifying standards, introducing lightweight technologies like Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) and a myriad of other REST-based service protocols and coordinating their use through recommended profiles and actors.

The IHE even hosts several annual integration events (the IHE Connectathons) that offer a truly unique opportunity for Healthcare IT vendors to integrate their systems in a controlled yet formidable setting, challenging vendors to prove their compatibility in advance of comparable integrations in the field.

Let's use this group to regularly meet, share and socialize our experience and knowledge of Healthcare IT technologies and standards through single presenter long presentation (Junto-style) format meetings, multiple presenter short fixed length talks (Lightening-style), mini-connectathons, hackathons and everything in-between.
