Healthcare NLP pipelines: Annotation, De-Identification and Question Answering

Details

After two successful editions and +100 people attending, Inria, Insem, ANS, Arkhn and Posos are happy to announce that the one and only Healthcare NLP meetup is back on February 14th, with an event themed on Question Answering, De-identification and Annotation of Biomedical Documents.

This special edition 🌹 will be hosted by Arkhn at Liberté Living Lab. Arkhn deploys standard health data architectures for hospitals in order to help them work their way towards data reuse, power-up clinical research, open up to innovation or improve management. Arkhn's dedicated R&D team develops NLP features to support this data-driven mission. LLL is a lab fostering innovation, gathering an impactful ecosystem.

The purpose of this Healthcare NLP meetup is to grow a community of experienced researchers, healthcare professionals, data scientists and developers, willing to stay tuned with NLP and get acquainted with novelties from this fast-paced domain. This event aims at fostering encounters, sharing experience, best practices and expertise in designing and using NLP models for healthcare. Finally, it aims at making public and private actors aware of what use cases these technologies can enable and how they can help make important strides towards interoperability at each step of the patient journey, which is a growing concern among many of these actors.

by Andon Tchechmedjiev, Associate Professor at IMT Mines Alès**.** In this talk, he will present the use of Biomedical Ontologies in Clinical NLP applications, particularly in complex Knowledge Extraction. He will first introduce the Bioportal ecosystem and tools, particularly for semantic annotation and then show some examples of projects using those tools in various use-cases in medical informatics.
2️⃣ De-identification of medical documents at Lifen
by Bettina Sarafis, Machine Learning Engineer at Lifen. Lifen develops disruptive solutions to fix interoperability issues once and for all, making it super easy and safe to transfer medical data to anyone. How to explain AI detections on free-text clinical data without compromising privacy, security and performance ? This talk introduces the method Lifen uses to de-identify medical documents and raw data displayed in their internal AI tool used on a daily basis by customer support and AI teams.
3️⃣ Question Answering by Alexandre Sioufi and Quentin Heinrich, respectively Head of ILLUIN Health and lead Data Scientist at ILLUIN Technology, a company that builds AI tools such as conversational agents, document analysis. They will present their work at ILLUIN on Question Answering with FQuAD (extractive, adversarial, boolean and multi-answer methods) and how they can be useful in Healtchare)
