Build a niche app - focus on gaining traction and viral growth - figure out monetization later. While this strategy of focusing on product and audience has worked for startups in the Second Wave of the Internet (such as Facebook and Instagram), AOL Cofounder Steve Case argues that entrepreneurs in the Third Wave (http://www.thirdwavebook.com/) of the Internet will need to operate by a different playbook in order to transform industries like healthcare. The Third Wave is about the “Internet of Everything” and Third Wave entrepreneurs will need a new focus on Partnerships, Policy and Perseverance.
In this talk, Medication Health (http://www.mymedicationhealth.com/) Founder & CEO Ashley Boldin will discuss practical insights and opportunities for digital health startups navigating the Third Wave. Medication Health is a digital health startup that aims to grow and support clinical pharmacy care through insights and consumer health technology solutions. Ashley began her healthcare career with the launch of Medicare Part D and has since gained experience with various organizations, including a pharmaceutical wholesaler, a medical device manufacturer, a major healthcare system, a large national health insurer, and a venture-capital funded digital health startup company. Ashley received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Central Arkansas in 2008 and later went on to earn a graduate certificate in Healthcare Informatics from the College of St. Scholastica in 2012.
