HealthcareMN in partnership with Bdata Inc and University of MN is bringing together an exciting Hackathon in the Spring of 2026!

The Heat Map Hackathon brings data, innovation, and compassion together to tackle a national challenge: ensuring every American has equitable access to life-saving burn care. Hosted by Healthcare MN and in partnership with BData, Inc and the University of Minnesota, this competition invites data scientists, clinicians, and innovators to use real-world hospital and population data to map where burn care is needed most. Participants will leverage BData’s National Injury Resource Database (NIRD) along with public datasets to model new, equitable configurations of burn centers across the U.S. Through cutting-edge analytics and creativity, teams will transform data into action—identifying the “hot spots” of unmet need and shaping the future of burn care.
