HTF: Chicago inaugural event will explore trends in patient engagement. What is working? What is not? What is a bigger motivator for healthcare organizations to engage patients, meaningful use or accountable care/value-based payments?

There has been a lot of lip service paid to patient engagement, but are hospitals and medical practices really reaching out to patients in a meaningful way? Are large numbers of patients seeking a more active role in their own care, or is it still confined to a small, vocal group?

Can patients demand for information push the kind of interoperability that so far has eluded the big EHR vendors?
