The Looming Impact of GDPR

Details
The General Data Protection Legislation (GDPR) will affect all businesses, and it comes into force on 25th May 2018, so we have arranged with Baker Botts' special counsel, Clive Thorne (http://www.bakerbotts.com/people/t/thorne-clive), to give us a a healthcare-focused presentation on the key points of the new law, hopefully in time for members to take the necessary actions to avoid the potentially huge fines for non-compliance (up to 3% of worldwide turnover).
The GDPR will fundamentally alter the data privacy landscape in Europe, including the UK even after Brexit. All companies need to review their internal compliance procedures and ensure “data protection by design”.
In this seminar Clive will also discuss how the GDPR is different from the current Data Protection Act of 1988, and other related legislation proposed in the Queen’s Speech.
The new law is of considerable importance to healthcare companies in numerous contexts including; medicine regulation, clinical trials, patient records, treatment evaluation and HR records.
Registration is from 6 pm onwards - do please try to be seated by 6.30 pm so we can start promptly. Networking drinks are planned for 8 pm.
I look forward to seeing you for what will be a really important evening, especially for anyone involved at all with personal health data.
With kind regards,
Charles
