Food connects us, comforts us, and tells stories about who we are. ❤️ Join the Healthy and Tasty Planet Cooking Club, a project of The Being Well Collective, for a special evening: "Eating together, connecting our worlds"!
This unique event is a partnership with Bloeifilm, it blends intimate short film screening with joyful communal cooking, learning, creative writing, and co-creation of zines.
We'll begin with the film screening, then sharing circle ice breaker (Bring your own connecting to strangers over food story) and QA with the film maker. Then we'll head to the kitchen; Together, we'll prepare delicious comfort food dishes, learning and laughing along the way. The day will also include a short talk from Margaux, our wellbeing coach and nutrition chef, about how cooking and eating together improve our wellbeing and connect us with ourselves, the environment, and others.
Garden Shed is a new short film, produced by Bloeifilm, telling the story of the overly ambitious fashion designer Imme (18). When his sewing machine breaks down right before an important deadline, he returns to his grandma’s abandoned garden shed, hoping to find a functioning machine. Soon, he is confronted with the presence of Maud (24), a seemingly unambitious student who squatted the shed and has no intention of leaving. Committed to his deadline, Imme tries everything to ignore her and pushes himself to his limits. But Maud cannot resist her curiosity, nor her increasing desire to confront him with his toxic work ethic. But is that the only reason for Maud to seek connection? And is Imme able to see her as more than just an obstacle?
Garden Shed shows an unexpected encounter of two strangers, living in and internalizing a hyper-productive and individualized world. Seemingly polar opposites, there is more that connects them than they think. It might only be a matter of time before they sit together at the dinner table… How can a relation of care start to dominate that of transaction and productivity?
After watching the film and having a nice dinner, we invite you to reflect on the importance of cooking/eating in relation to mental and collective well-being, and to turn this reflection into a creative expression. You have the possibility to co-create a zine and/or submit it to our publication project Feel and Rise, in which we collect and publish such contributions to make visible our collective consciousness regarding the state of the world. In doing so, we foster active engagement and connection through what we share, feel and long for in times of global crises.
