What we’re about
It's about interacting with the land, in such as way as to promote a healthy ecosystem, above and below the soil, with the understanding that we cannot be healthy eating poisoned food grown in poisoned and nutrient-deficient soil.
Whether it is a backyard garden, one of the myriad forms of community gardens, a religious organization's garden or farm, a market garden, a truck patch, eatable landscaping or a for-profit "farm", we seek to increase the diversity of life again, above and below ground. We recognize most weeds are simply plants trying to repair the damage but in ways, we may not understand. One of the worst things that can be done to the soil is repetitive tillage simply for the sake of doing something. One of the best things that can occur is living roots and soil coverage at all times.
Whether Permaculture, Soil Food Web, Beyond Organic, Veganic or other term, we seek to feed the soil, which feeds the plants, which directly or indirectly feed us.
My goal is to attract those eager to get their hands dirty, perhaps a bit of sunburn, learn from and teach each other lessons both from "science" and generational wisdom.
To use a quote attributed to Hippocrates, "Let food by thy medicine, and medicine be thy food".
