HEADS UP: Monsanto's Roundup applied in OFF LEASH Pulgas Ridge Open Space

Details
Yesterday as I was strolling in the San Carlos hills (Pulgas Ridge Open Space Nature Preserve) I noticed a small sign posted on a stake off the trail. I needed to walk off the trail in order to read the small print. Monsanto's Roundup had been recently sprayed, or would be sprayed in the area, a popular off-leash dog walking area. Is anyone else concerned about this? Glyphosate is the least expensive way to remove invasive species (and the three "target pests" named on the sign are also toxic to dogs…) When so many decisions all come down to immediate convenience and affordability instead of weighing the long-term effects of those decisions, how do we promote less toxic alternatives?
