THE NEXT EVENT of the Vegetarian Society will be held this coming Sunday, March 1, at our regular meeting spot, the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, 2931 Kingston Pike. At 6 p.m we will have a potluck supper with both vegan and vegetarian options (please label your dish!). Then at 6:45 p.m. master chefs Kevin Meyer and Diane Shenk will demonstrate how to make Creamy Broccoli Dal, an easy Indian stew that is both vegan and gluten free. Cost to enter is $4 per person, or $10 per family, or free for Life Members (those who have made a one-time, $300 investment in our Society, which gives you free entry to all events for the rest of your life). Checks should be made to the Veggie Fund. RSVP to Bob by text at 865-936-0081, or just show up.

1. ABOUT THIS EVENT. The safe way to enter the church is via Painter Ave, which intersects with Concord Street. Painter Ave. dead ends into the church's steep back driveway. Heading south on Concord, it's the first right past the greenway and across from the Tyson Park entrance. We will have two dessert tables, one for vegan desserts, one for "regular" desserts. There will be a labelling table in the church lobby if you need to label your dish and its ingredients. We will have cookbooks for sale, and also white elephant (rummage) items (please buy, please donate). We may need a volunteer dishwasher after the event. We compost all food scraps after the meal; look for the compost buckets near the dirty dish area.

2. VEGGIE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED. There are many ways to help our Society; we've got jobs both big and small! We need graphic artists to create posters, folks to sweep and wash dishes, someone who lives near Bob to wash tablecloths. We need tabling help at community events and folks to create fundraisers. Get in touch with Bob if you would like to help VSET in any way.
