Machine Learning: Practical Implementation in Business Environments

Machine Learning (ML) has captured the attention of both engineering and business communities for an extended period. This lecture delves into the practical applications of ML in addressing a wide range of business challenges. Through real-world examples, we will demonstrate how ML models optimize processes, enhance decision-making, and drive innovation across industries. Case studies will highlight successful implementations, showcasing tangible benefits as well as common obstacles. Attendees will gain actionable insights into best practices for bridging the gap between ML theory and delivering impactful business outcomes.

ABOUT NAJDAN:
Dr Najdan Vuković is a Data Science and Machine Learning professional with over 15 years of experience. As an AI/ML Technical Lead at Robert Bosch for the past six years, he has contributed to the development and deployment of large-scale, Machine Learning-driven forecasting models for demand planning. He also spearheaded the setting of a high-performing Machine Learning team, now comprising 11 associates. Dr. Vuković holds a PhD in Machine Learning and Mobile Robotics, along with MSc degrees in both Mechanical Engineering and Quantitative Finance. Prior to Bosch, he spent 10 years in research, achieving the rank of Associate Research Professor, where he focused on cutting-edge Machine Learning model research, development, academic publication, and lecturing.

FinAsk is an AI-driven platform that turns fragmented financial data into clear insights, helping companies make smarter and faster decisions.

ABOUT ALEKSA:

Aleksa Račić is a software engineer and co-founder of FinAsk, with extensive experience in building and scaling fintech startups. In addition to his work in the tech industry, Aleksa is a passionate educator and mentor. He leads camps focused on robotics and artificial intelligence, where he teaches students the foundations and applications of machine learning.

Vavilon
Tourism without barriers: Vavilon creates real-time AI translation devices that enable tourists to hear guides in their native language. Backed by the Smart Start program, they’re now focused on building their MVP.

ABOUT ANDREJ and VLADAN:

Andrej Bantulić and Vladan are third-year students at the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade. They have been active contributors at the Petnica Science Center and the Science and Engineering Center PFE, where they led projects, mentored students, and gave lectures in the fields of automation and machine learning.

Their experience also includes collaboration with the UNDP and Petlja Foundation, where they worked as lecturers, workshop organisers, and authored educational materials. During their high school years, they co-led the Engineering Club at the Grammar School of Kraljevo, promoting STEM among younger students.

Now, they’ve combined their technical skills and leadership experience to co-found Vavilon, where they serve as CEO and CTO.
