We will be reading and discussing Martin Heidegger's lecture "What Is That – Philosophy?". Heidegger delivered it on August 1955, at Cerisy-la-Salle, Normandy. It inaugurated a week long seminar introducing Heidegger's way of thinking to French philosophers. Heidegger asks: what do we mean by philosophy?
The discussion will primarily be in English. Everyone is welcome. Explaining Heidegger's way of thinking can get quite technical quite quickly. We will try to keep the discussion oriented toward the everyday world.
