Watercolour Lift Off "Figure in the rocks" - Beginners and Intermediate

Details

This is an online lesson in watercolour, for beginners and intermediate, teaching step by step instructions to make an A5 complete painting. The techniques we are using at the moment are fun, easy and effective - lifting off. This is where you use a material such as cling film or kitchen roll to give exciting effects, combined with some brush work and drawing. There are already 5 people in the group who are very friendly and from around the world. Cost is £15 for the two hour taster session.

In this piece you will learn how to use the fun lifting off technique with cling film using multiple colours for the rocks and approaches to small and simple figure drawing. This is a small and sociable group for an online class. There will also be some experimentation with other materials such as greaseproof paper and kitchen foil if you have some. (See further images in group photos).

You will need:

  • Access to the image as you paint either digitally, or as a print out (I can email you);
  • Two sheets of A5 Watercolour paper (300gsm) taped to a board (taped to cardboard will do);
  • Cling film;
  • Ruler;
  • HB pencil, sharpener and rubber;
  • Black fine liner;
  • Masking tape
  • a little bit of greaseproof paper
  • a little bit of kitchen foil
  • Hairdryer
  • Scrap paper
  • Waterpots, watercolour brushes

When you pay you will get a link for the Zoom session so if you've never used Zoom before give yourself 15 minutes before the session to install it (the link you get when you sign up will lead you to this).
