Greek Book Club: Eleni, Part I

Greek Book Club: Eleni, Part I

Details

For this edition of the Greek Book Club, we will be reading the first half of Eleni by Nicholas Gage. This moving story tells the tale of a mother who "defied the traditions of her small village and the terror of the communist insurgents to arrange for the escape of her three daughters and her son, Nicola." "Nicola" is Nicholas Gage, the author of the book who grew up in America, became a successful writer and came to use his talents to tell the story of his mother's sacrifice.

Since this is one of our longer books, we will be reading it in two parts, and discussing each half in separate meetings. For this first meeting, we will be reading up to page 268, or up to chapter 12 (depending on the edition that you have, it might not be the same pages for everyone). While a date is currently set, the location will be chosen at a later point, and suggestions are welcome!
