The Self-Care Social Hour (via Zoom)

Details

Alright, we're just barely into 2024.

And I'm already hearing the cries of pain!

So many people have decided "This is the year that I [fill in the blank with some massive self-care goal].."

But just a couple days into the new year, they've arrived at "Well, shit... I couldn't do it. now what?"

Yah. I know. I hear you!

But don't freak out. I've got an idea.

  • How would it feel to meet once a week on Zoom with like-minded people recovering from complex trauma who, like you, want to practice self-care, in small, easy-to-accomplish, doses so you can move forward in life AND just start feeling better already?

Basically, I'm tired of watching people suffering in silence! When you don't have to. And when connection can be SO easy. And SO healing.

So I've decided to create this MeetUp.

A place to connect. A place to share our "wins and wobbles," as they say. A place to offer support and get support so you can return to the chaos of the "real world" afterward a bit more stable than when you arrived.

Does that sound good to you?

OK, so here's how this MeetUp series will work:

  • First off, you can join any, all, or some of the MeetUps. (But honestly, if you want to actually feel better, then attending more often than not is a good idea!)
  • We will meet once per week on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. EST. for about an hour.
  • We will get to know each other slowly.
  • We agree to a) show up, b) say hi, and c) MAYBE turn on the camera. (Your call.) But at the very least, participate in some way that contributes in a meaningful way to others in the group.
  • We will be authentic, respectful, and gentle with ourselves and each other.
  • We will ensure this is a safe space for all people joining from all walks of life. The only thing that won't be tolerated is intolerance.

Then, we will talk about self-care. I will start with a story or some ideas and suggestions before bringing the conversation around to inviting everyone to join in. I might ask a few questions, but nothing deeply personal or triggering. Mainly things like this:

  • What is a self-care goal of yours?
  • What does it feel like when you try to move toward that goal?
  • What do you think is stopping you from meeting that goal?
  • What is one step you think you can take toward that goal in the next week?

We will share and talk, and then we will wrap up, maybe offer one another a few virtual hugs, and return to our week inspired, calmed, and ready to see if we can take that next small step forward.

We all know: Rome wasn't built in a day and mountains are scaled one step at a time. With this approach, we can accomplish great things in small doses.

That's all. Easy peasy.

That sounds good to you?

The one caveat:

This will be free for January. For all five Wednesdays. Let's try it out and see if it works. If so, then we'll keep going at a super affordable rate of $5 per person, per meeting.

Now, to see if I can get the technology on MeetUp to work with a recurring Zoom meeting. :)

I'm excited. Are you?
