Join CJL Team in Haw River Assembly Cleanup-A-Thon

Join Clean Jordan Lake in the 21th Annual Haw River Cleanup. The organizer is the Haw River Assembly (HRA), a citizens working group working to protect the Haw River and Jordan Lake since 1982. The HRA asks for Teams of workers to volunteer to cleanup shoreline areas of their choice. Clean Jordan Lake will be a Team that works together with the Army Corps of Engineers near its headquarters on the Haw River Arm of the lake.
Registration will begin at 9am at the Army Corps of Engineers Visitor Assistance Center (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?client=firefox-a&hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=211094745214091251370.00049bf41862337d42e56&z=16) located at the end of Jordan Dam Rd. A safety briefing will be given, risk waiver forms will be signed and bags, gloves and snacks will be distributed.
The CJL cleanup will last until Noon. Volunteers are free to work all or part of this time period. Assignments will be made for specific sections of shoreline accessible from the Army Corps of Engineers Boat Ram (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?client=firefox-a&hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=211094745214091251370.00049bf41862337d42e56&z=16)p, located about 1 mile from the Visitor Assistance Center.

BOATS TO FERRY TRASH
A few boats will be needed to ferry trash from sections of shoreline back to the Army Corps of Engineers Boat Ramp. Please indicate if you will be bringing a boat.
COME PREPARED TO WORK
Wear rugged clothes, and shoes that can get muddy or wet Use work gloves (we will supply or bring your favorites) Bring rain gear if needed – we’ll be working unless there’s a deluge. Bring a snack or bag lunch and water TRASH CLEAN-UP TIPS
Safety first: Always wear puncture proof gloves to pick up broken glass and sharp or rusted metal. Be very careful if there is traffic nearby (wear an orange safety vest provided). Make sure all children are safe and closely supervised.
Tires: Roll to convenient stacking location that organizers will designate
