Stoic Philosophy Picnic: Conversations on Ego & Self-Awareness

Details
If the weather permits, we’ll hold this meeting outdoors as a picnic, enjoying nature while engaging in deep conversation. We will meet in front of the Kiasma main entrance and walk together to a nearby picnic spot just a short distance away. If it rains, we will gather instead in the Kiasma café for our discussion.
This time, our theme will center on the concept of ego—and how it can be our greatest obstacle—drawing inspiration from Ryan Holiday’s insights in Ego Is the Enemy.
Whether you’re a seasoned Stoic practitioner or a newcomer to philosophical inquiry, this event welcomes all who are seeking personal growth and self-improvement. Together, we’ll examine how Stoic philosophy can help us recognize and tame the ego, allowing us to act with humility, clarity, and purpose.
What to expect:
- Thoughtful reflections on Stoic texts and Ryan Holiday’s perspectives.
- Interactive discussions on how ego manifests in daily life—and practical ways to keep it in check.
- Actionable strategies for cultivating self-awareness, detachment from unhealthy pride, and resilience in the face of challenges.
Come ready to share your insights, learn from others, and enjoy meaningful conversation in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Let’s build a community centered on wisdom, humility, and lifelong learning—picnic blanket optional, philosophical curiosity required.
Note: The discussion will be held in English unless all participants prefer Finnish.
