Production Haskell Book Club Kick-Off
Details
Helsinki Haskell Users Book Club returns!
After our practice heavy and more to the ground book club featuring Sockets and Pipes, this time we are tackling Production Haskell by Matt Parsons! The book is an opinionated tour guide to how to bring Haskell to the industry and have it be approved by management, as well as what tradeoffs are needed to be considered when moving from the hobbyist space to industry production, team management and all such things.
In the author's words: "Ultimately, this is a book about the social reality of software engineering in niche languages." All this is based on seven years of experience in the industry.
In the first meeting we will mostly focus on the practical aspects of the book club, such as meeting frequency, the amount of reading to be done between discussions and the goals of each of our members should there be any particular foci in mind for people. However, it would be good if everyone could have at least skimmed through the introductory segment of the book, as well as the principles that follow.
