Details

Welcome to the 11th meetup of Helsinki Java User Group!

This time, we're hosted by Wolt at their headquarters.

There will be talks, discussions, food, drinks, and plenty of opportunities to network and meet new people.

đź—“ Agenda:

17:30 – Doors Open

18:00 - 18:30: Intro + Talk 1 - Scaling Back-End Development with Kotlin (Andrei Nevedomskii)

As Wolt has grown, scaling best practices and reducing code duplication have become essential. In response, we use a set of Gradle plugins and libraries to tackle common challenges and streamline our development process. Let’s take a look at what it does and how it works.

18:30 - 19:00: Break
Food, drinks, and mingling.

19:00 - 19:30: Talk 2 - Building Custom Detekt Rules (Daniil Iastremskii)
Explore how to extend the power of Detekt, a static code analysis tool for Kotlin, by building custom rules tailored to your project's needs. We'll walk through the process, share examples, and discuss how custom rules can improve code quality and maintainability.

19:30 - 20:00: Talk 3 - A Critical Look at Clean Architecture (Thomas Basche)
Uncle Bob’s "Clean Architecture" has a loyal following, but Thomas takes a different perspective. Join him as he critically analyzes this classic book, questioning its ideas and exploring alternative approaches.

20:00 - 21:00: More Mingling
Continue discussions, network, and exchange ideas with fellow attendees.

21:00: Event Ends

🧭 The meetup venue is Wolt Headquarters: Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu 21, 00100 Helsinki, Finland.
⚠️ Please note: sign-up is required. We'll be checking registration upon arrival.
